Chinese Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the four most important Chinese festivals, the Mid-Autumn Festival is the second grandest festival after the Spring Festival in China and one of the most celebrated Chinese holidays marking the end of the agricultural year( the harvest season). It is a popular celebration of abundance and togetherness held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month according to Chinese lunar calendar.
Moon Festival, Moon cake Festival, Chinese Moon Festival, and the August Moon Festival they are the different names of the same festival Mid Autumn Festival.
Unlike the American Thanksgiving dinner, the Chinese have moon cakes which are a special food for Mid-Autumn Festival. Making and sharing moon cakes is one of the traditions of this festival. Moon cakes are round pastries symbolizing the reunion of a family. Moon cakes come in various flavors which change according to the region.
Friends and relatives also send moon cakes to each other to demonstrate that they wish them a long and happy life as a way of giving thanks.
