Where is your favorite summer holiday place? The beach is the perfect place for me. The air is hot, but the water is cool, wet and fresh. First I enjoy swimming and surfing in the ocean. When I am tired, I came out and lie on the beach. The sand is soft and white. The beach is noisy with seagulls and children laughing, but it’s a pleasant noise. I even like the beach smells. The air smells salty from the ocean and everybody’s sun cream. I feel peaceful and relaxed. When I want to relax in summer, I go to the beach! And when I say beach I don’t find amazing place more than Hawaiian Islands.
Last summer I decided to go with my family to Hawaii. Hawaii is one of the eight Hawaiian Islands. In order of size, they are Hawaii (the “Big Island”) Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Niihau and Kahoolawe. The islands are similar in their natural beauty. They all have volcanic mountains and waterfalls, rainforests and beautiful beaches. But we chose Hawaii cause of it’s the only island with active volcanoes. And it’s the biggest island.
We would stay there about three days. I was interested in knowing a lot of things about this island. From the first moment we arrived we started to enjoy Hawaiian traditions. A Hawaiian host gave me Lei to put it around my neck. For those who don’t know what is Lei means; it means a necklace made of flowers, a lei emanates the love of and awareness of the aina (land) and environment. It’s made by older women and it’s a symbol of peace and friendship. After the lei fades, in Hawaiian culture, the lei recipient would usually go to the ocean, given the lei back to the environment. Then we shared the Hawaiian people in their dance which is called “hula” and listen to music played on Hawaiian instruments. These instruments are made of bamboo, wood and gourds.
If you enjoy water sports like me. It was amazing there; I went swimming, surfing, snorkeling, and scuba diving. First of all, I swam in the warm water. Then, I started to surf the waves making competition with my father. After that we tried snorkeling and scuba diving to get a close look at the beauty lying below the surface of the ocean. The undersea world is made even more colorful by the coral reefs of red, gold, white and light purple.
Before we finish our holiday I asked my father to get some information about the island from Hawaiian people that we know. My father agreed so I took my sister and went to our friends. They told us that through all of Hawaii’s history, volcanoes have played an important part. The islands were formed by the eruption of volcanoes under the ocean, on this big island of Hawaii, the volcanoes continue to erupt. During an eruption, hot lava pours out of the path. I was enjoying Hawaii’s history but it was time to leave. I thanked my friends and left them.
After doing all these things I found a lot of things more I didn’t have time to do it so I guess that I need to return back again to know more information about this amazing place. My advice to you is to try to go there.
