The construction of Osaka Castle started in 1583 by one of Japan’s most fabled warlords on a flat land the former site of the Ishiyama Honganji Temple. Tokugawa Hidetada succeeded in ending the war and rebuilt and completed its construction in three years. It was the largest castle at the time.
